Israeli authorities have forced a Palestinian to raze his commercial facility in a predominantly Palestinian neighborhood in the occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds.

The official Wafa news agency said Mos’ab Ja’abees had no choice but to demolish his store in the Mukabbir neighborhood on Monday, because if he refused to do so, he would have had to pay a lot of money to Jerusalem al-Quds municipality to do the job.

The demolition order was issued under the pretext of lacking the necessary construction permits. The excuse is now hackneyed as it is almost impossible to obtain such a document.

On Sunday, Sarah Abdallah, a Lebanese activist and commentator, said in a post on social media that Israeli authorities planned to force about 1,500 Palestinian families to tear down their homes in the Silwan neighborhood, which is home to about 33,000 Palestinians and is located outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem al-Quds.

Israel has been relocating Jewish extremists to the neighborhood since the 1980s. Currently, several hundred settlers live there in heavily protected compounds.

Separately, Wafa reported on Monday that Israel had ordered a halt to the construction of two houses in the town of Idhna, west of al-Khalil (Hebron) in the occupied West Bank.

The Tel Aviv regime sometimes even orders the Palestinian owners to pay the demolition costs to the municipality.

Israel also continues its settlement expansion in defiance of the international law.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has warned the Israeli regime against the forced eviction of Palestinians.
