Atletico Madrid have finally clinched the La Liga title after 7 years, with a 2-1 comeback victory over Valladolid in the last match of the season away from home.
The already-relegated hosts got on the scoresheet after 18 minutes of play when Oscar Plano completed his solo-run and slotted in following a rapid counter-attack.
But, Angel Correa leveled the score for Atletico in the 57th minute as the Argentine striker found the net with a clinical finish from the edge of the box.
Ten minutes later, Luis Suarez scored his 21st goal of the season, which proved to be the title-winning goal for Diego Simeone’s men. Atletico finally claimed their 11th La Liga crown after a fierce title race with their city rivals Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Atletico Madrid fans celebrated the triumph in Madrid after clinching the La Liga title after a 7-year wait. Celebrations took place with a tight police presence due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Atletico had a good start at the beginning of the season, but their poor performance along the way put them in a tight contest with Los Blancos and Barcelona. But they finally managed to win the title on the final day of the season.
