The Turkish president said his country will continue to expose to the world how Israel occupied Palestinian land.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized on the successful meeting held in the United Nations under the presidency of Volkan Bozkır, a Turkish diplomat, and in the presence of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, as well as other foreign ministers such as Palestinian foreign minister who joined Cavusoglu on his trip to New York.
Turkey had been supporting Palestinian resistance and people for the past few days during the Israeli aggression, with protests taking place in Turkish cities every night in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Turkish officials including the president himself called many times for immediate ceasefire and a halt to the Israeli bombardment on Gaza.
Turkey even criticized countries supporting and arming Israel such as the United States. A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect at 2 am Friday after days of Israeli aggression on Gaza and attacks against peaceful worshippers in the Aqsa mosque.
Meanwhile on Friday noon Israeli forces raid al Aqsa mosque, Turkish foreign ministry in a statement condemned the attacks on Palestinian worshippers during the Friday prayer calling for an end of atrocities that limit the freedom of beliefs and worship.
Turkey’s relation with Israel has been strained since the incident of mavi marmara that took place in 2010, and the rise of AKP which supports the resistance in Palestine.
