The defending champions came into the semi-final encounter hours after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the delayed quarter-final match.
The Serbian ace had a good start as he took the opener 6-3 before Sonego fought back in the 2nd and managed to edge out the set in a tie-break. Djokovic found his rhythm again in the decider and easily won the 3rd at 6-2 to wrap up the match after 2 hours and 45 minutes.
