The great mosque of Yemen's capital Sana'a hosted a symposium aimed at commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Ali.

Imam Ali was assassinated by Abd al-Rahman ibn Muljam al-Muradi on 26 January 661, at the Great Mosque of Kufa in present-day Iraq.
