NBA: Toronto Raptors 114-103 Brooklyn Nets

Over the NBA, and in the Eastern Conference, Toronto Raptors have dispatched the Brooklyn Nets 114-103 at the Amalie Arena.

Despite having their core group back in the lineup after almost a month, the Raptors were thrashed in the opening quarter 36-23, but once their star players got comfortable on the floor, things started clicking for them.

First they cut the gap back to 2 points at half-time, still trailing 58-56. Then the hosts stormed ahead in the third, routing the Nets 36-23, before holding them off in the final quarter to pick up their 4th straight victory.

Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby combined 52 points for Toronto to counter-punch a near-triple-double from Kyrie Irving, while Kevin Durant missed a second game for the Nets due to injury.

Elsewhere in Houston, the western Conference leaders Utah Jazz dismantled the rock-bottom Rockets 112-89. Utah didn’t leave any room for doubt as they got an early lead and ran away with it until the final buzzer to earn their most-lopsided victory over Houston since a 118-91 blowout back in 2018.

The Jazz had 6 men in double figures, while their star Donovan Mitchell wasn’t even involved as he’s recovering from an ankle sprain. Utah will next play host to the Timberwolves on Saturday, and Houston welcome the Clippers on Friday.
