2022 World Cup Qualifiers: England 2-1 Poland

Over the 2022 World Cup European Qualifiers, England have edged past Poland 2-1 at Wembley Stadium to maintain their perfect run in Group I.

Three lions reached an early lead via Harry Kane, who pierced a penalty shot right into the centre of the goal in the 19th minute.

The guest side, who did not have the service of injured Robert Lewandowski scored the equalizer 2 minutes before the hour-mark via Jakub Moder.

But Gareth Southgate’s men had no intention to lose all the match-points as Harry Maguire fired the ball into the back of the net in the 85th minute and made the final score 2-1.

The win means victorious Brits are still at the top of Group I standings with 9 points from three fixtures. Meanwhile, Poles are down in the 4th spot with only 4 points from the same game count.

In another match of the night, 4-time World Cup winners, Germany, suffered a humiliating defeat against North Macedonia after going down 2-1 at the home stadium of MSV Arena.

Guests scored the opener, when Goran Pandev blasted the ball inside the left post, putting the Macedonians ahead in the first half extra times.

Joachim Low's side then levelled the match via Ilkay Gundogan in the 63rd minute as he converted from the spot after a foul on Leroy Sane. The Germans did not see that coming, when Elif Elmas struck the winner from the close range with only 5 minutes remaining.

The Macedonians cut the Germans unbeaten run in qualifiers after 35 games as they had their last loss back in 2001 with a 5-1 defeat against England.
