The Israeli regime has denied COVID-19 vaccine to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli parliament said Palestinians living under Israeli blockade in the Gaza Strip will receive no vaccine. Palestinians say the move is aimed at pressurizing resistance groups to release Israeli soldiers arrested during the Israeli aggression imposed against the strip since 2014.
This comes as Israeli Health Ministry has said over a quarter of Israel's population have received the vaccine since December 19. Human rights groups have accused the Israeli regime of violating the basic rights of the Palestinians.
For their own part, Palestinian resistance groups in the strip have said they will not sit back, adding that the release of Israeli soldiers should come through a just prisoner swap deal.
Earlier, the United Nations called on the Israeli regime to help ensure Palestinians will receive COVID-19 vaccinations amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Stressing that the pandemic has taken a heavy toll on the occupied Palestinian territories, the UN said the cost of lives and livelihoods there remain high, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
Israel's move to deny vaccine to the Palestinians come as over 156,000 Palestinians have been infected with the coronavirus and more than 1,800 have lost their lives so far.
