Biden has foundation to do something spectacular, Trump says vowing to ‘return in some form’

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump disembark Marine One at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on January 20, 2021.

Outgoing US President Donald Trump suggests he has created a “foundation” for the incoming Biden administration “to do something spectacular.”

Trump made the comments in his last speech as the president at the Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, on Wednesday, as President-elect Joe Biden was set to attend the inauguration ceremony in Washington, DC.

“The future of this country has never been better. I wish the new administration great luck and great success. I think they’ll have great success, they have the foundation to do something spectacular,” said the outgoing president.  “We will be back in some form.”

Asserting that he will  be “watching” and will “return in some form,” Trump said goodbye to his supporters.

Trump, who has refused to concede defeat, attended the send-off ceremony, which was skipped by Vice President Mike Pence and a host of other GOP officials.

Pence was about to take part in the inauguration ceremony, which would kick off a week of Biden team preparation for transition into the White House.

Trump never accepted Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election although his challenges to the vote were rejected by US courts.
