With no sign of an imminent breakthrough in the Harry Dunn case, the tragic Northamptonshire teenager’s mother, Charlotte Charles, has saw fit to once again reach out to incoming US President, Joe Biden.
But this time Charlotte’s message had a distinctly personal touch, the voice of a powerless bereaved mother reaching out to the most powerful man in the world, once Biden takes office on Wednesday (20 January).
“Please President Biden help me to restart to rebuild my life. Please send Anne Sacoolas back to the UK to face our justice system”, Charlotte pleaded with Biden.
Harry, 19, was killed in August 2019 after former US spy, Anne Sacoolas, crashed into his motorbike outside RAF Croughton in Northamptonshire, which houses a US spy base.
Sacoolas was driving on the wrong side of the road at the time, a point that was raised by Charlotte in her emotional appeal.
“He [Harry] was just out enjoying his passion [by riding his motorbike]. He’d done nothing wrong. He was on the correct side of the road”, Charlotte said tearfully.
Sacoolas, who is married to a serving US spy formerly based at RAF Croughton, subsequently evaded justice by claiming diplomatic immunity and fleeing the UK.
The UK Foreign Office has come under intense scrutiny for clandestinely helping Sacoolas flee the UK before she could face the justice system.
To make matters worse, the Foreign Office has given every impression that it is out to sabotage the Dunn family’s fight for justice.
In the latest scandal, leaked internal Foreign Office documents attack both Charlotte and the Dunn family’s spokesman Radd Seiger.
Charlotte Charles’ latest outreach to Biden is a sign of the family’s complete loss of faith in both the Foreign Office and the British judiciary’s willingness or ability to facilitate Sacoolas’ extradition to the UK.
However, Charlotte was careful to personalize her message to incoming President Biden by avoiding the complex politics surrounding the case.
“We are not vengeful people. We are a very very regular family that just miss … I miss my son”, a distraught Charlotte Charles told Biden.
“I still haven’t been able to piece together the last two to three hours of my son’s life”, she added.
