Sinkhole opens up in Naples carpark, swallowing cars

A huge hole opened in a Naples car park on Friday morning (January 8) swallowing cars but with no injuries reported.

Italian fire brigade officers were on site in order to check there were no people involved in the incident.

At least three cars could be seen at the bottom of the chasm, which was about 500 square meters (5381 feet) in the hospital car park of Ospedale del Mare.

There was no immediate information available as to what caused the hole to open up.
