As the legislative elections day approaches in Venezuela, incumbent President Nicolas Maduro has announced that 99 percent of the nation’s dollar income has been blocked by the series of illegal economic sanctions imposed by the United States.
Maduro said the US administration uses sanctions to bring about an economic collapse and see him ousted.
The Venezuelan president said although Washington’s blockade will not get him out of office, it is indeed seriously damaging the economy.
The sanctions have severely affected Venezuela’s economy. President Maduro, however, has been calling on the people to vote for his socialist party, claiming that the socialist lawmakers will work to overcome the sanctions.
