The election process in the United States is under further scrutiny after Rudy Giuliani, the personal attorney to US President Donald Trump, held a press conference to reiterate claims of voter fraud by Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
The former New York City mayor was widely mocked in the mainstream media after he appeared to sweat off his hair dye in images that made front pages around the world. Pro-Biden commentators joked that the Trump team were literally melting away.
Senior Republicans have also begun to call for an end to Trump's refusal to concede the election. Former Republican candidate Senator Mitt Romney, took to twitter and condemned Trump’s team. He said it was difficult to imagine a worse, more undemocratic action by a sitting American president.
Meanwhile President elect Joe Biden held a press conference after a meeting with a number of governors and criticized the trump campaign. Trump is facing a number of federal charges, with allegations of tax fraud in a number of states.
Some believe a pledge of pardon from the incoming President will persuade him to move on. But for now Trump is standing firm backed by his huge electoral base and, for the moment, the majority of Republican senators.
