The Afghan Volleyball Federation has launched the first-ever men’s volleyball league with the participation of six teams.

Despite war and political instability, Afghanistan struggles to gain achievements in some major areas such as sports. Afghanistan has already gained the approval of the International Volleyball Federation, FIVB, to launch its first-ever volleyball league under the direct supervision of a group of Iranian volleyball experts.

The visit of Iranian volleyball experts to Kabul has been warmly welcomed by Afghans since Iran is on the top of the list of Asian volleyball teams.

Kabul officials believe Afghanistan's national volleyball team can effectively use Iran's experience to boost its capabilities.

The league will be underway until November 19, with the participation of six teams from six different zones, divided into two pools (A and B) of three teams each. This stage of the competition will be played in the round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the semifinals
