Maher al-Akhras, a Palestinian inmate at Israeli jail, has suspended his hunger strike that lasted for over one hundred and won his freedom after forcing Israeli regime to release him.
The Palestinian Prisoners' Committee in the Gaza Strip marked this victory during a press conference in front of the Red Cross office and stressed that the Palestinian resistance will continue till all Palestinian inmates at Israeli jails are freed.
The 49-year-old Palestinian prisoner, a father of six, was detained on July 27 and held under a four-month administrative detention order, with no charge and based on alleged, secret evidence not available even to his lawyers.
He went on hunger strike to protest his arrest and condition.
The Palestinian man would spend the remaining period of his current term in hospital for medical treatment.
There are currently 350 Palestinians detainees in Israeli prisons without charge, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees Affairs said earlier this week. Three of them have been on hunger strike in solidarity with Akhras.
Maher al-Akhras has ended his hunger strike only after managing to force the Zionist regime to release him, marking another victory for the Palestinian cause.
