These Kabul university students are fleeing the campus after gunfire.

According to security forces here in Kabul University, a group of armed assailants entered a building located just a few hundred meters behind me. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Taliban denied their members were involved in the attack.

Some students in Kabul University say, the assailants first gunned down security forces at the entrance gate before entering the campus.

Observers say launching attacks on educational centers proves the animosity of terrorists with knowledge.

They also called on the government to fulfill its responsibilities when it comes to protecting academic sites.

Last week, two dozen people, mostly students, lost their lives as an educational center in western Kabul was targeted in an attack claimed by Daesh.

Kabul University came under attack while hundreds of government officials, university lecturers and Iranian ambassador to Kabul had gathered to inaugurate the third Afghan-Iran joint book fair.
