Yemenis have come together in several cities across the country to mark the birth anniversary of the Prophet of Islam. They also denounced the French republication of offensive cartoons of the prophet, saying France's government is misusing freedom of speech.

Thousands of Yemenis gathered in the capital Sanaa and 13 other cities across the country to celebrate the Prophet Muhammad's birth anniversary.

This year's celebration comes amid the Islamophobic wave raging after reprinting of the insulting cartoons of Islam’s Prophet "Muhammad" in France.

Rage is growing across the Muslim world at the French president Emanuel Macron and his attacks on Islam and the prophet Muhammad, leading to calls for boycotts of the French products.

Yemenis gathering here say Islam is the religion of peace and its prophet is a symbol of peace but some people are seeking to insult him under the pretext of the freedom of speech.

Yemenis'ceremony included various cultural and religious events like reciting verses from holy Quran.

Yemenis say insulting the prophet of Islam is a redline which cannot be crossed and they will not remain silent against such moves conducted under the pretext of the freedom of speech.
