Nans Peters has won stage 8 of the 2020 Tour de France, while Adam Yates retains the overall leader’s yellow jersey.

After a tough day in the Pyrenees, Frenchman Peters proved the strongest of a 13-rider breakaway, as he soloed to his first career Tour de France stage win, almost a minute ahead of Toms Skujiņš of Lavatia, with Spaniard Carlos Verona in third.

Meanwhile, Yates was made to fight all the way to the finish line in order to hold on to his yellow jersey, as he faced a series of attacks on the final climb, but the Brit responded each time to retain his 3-second advantage over Primoz Roglich.
