Final court sessions are underway in New Zealand for an Australian man who killed 51 Muslim worshipers at two mosques in the city of Christchurch last year.
Sentencing hearings began on Monday for Brenton Tarrant, 29, and will wrap up on Thursday, when the final verdict will be announced. He is expected to receive an unprecedented sentence of life in prison with no parole.
Tarrant was present at the sessions, and decided not to personally address the last sentencing hearing, according to court officials.
Dozens of survivors and families of the victims did give statements, known as victim impact testimonies.
Most spoke directly to Tarrant.
