Some beachfront homes on Australia's east coast were on the verge of tumbling into the sea on Saturday (July 18) as wild storms continued to lash the coastline.
Resident Brendan Taylor said the situation was "catastrophic," as trucks with concrete pylons arrived to try to prop up some of the homes.
Residents of Wamberal, about 90 km (55 miles) north of Sydney, were evacuated after emergency personnel warned their homes might collapse. The suburb has a population of about 6,300.
The storms were forecast to continue late on Saturday and other towns along the country's eastern coastline were also expected to be affected.
