The Yellow Crane Tower, a landmark tourist attraction in Wuhan, the Chinese city once hit the hardest by the COVID-19 epidemic, will reopen on Wednesday after almost 100 days of close.

Staff members at the scenic spot are disinfecting the area and making preparations for its reopen on Tuesday.

Starting on Wednesday, the scenic park will be open from 8:30 to 17:00 with the number of visits capped at 5,400 daily, said its management office on Sunday.

"The park only allows 5,400 visitors touring the Yellow Crane Tower every day. Among the tickets, a total of 4,000 are sold online and 1,400 are prepared for people who enjoy free access or preferential prices," said Wang Hongnian, a staff member at the park.

Visitors can scan their ID card or QR code at the entrance to enter the park, following a temperature check and the provision of a green health code. During their stay at the park, all visitors are required to wear face masks all the time.

The central Chinese province of Hubei has reopened 273 out of its 421 Grade-A tourist attractions as the epidemic wanes, the provincial department of culture and tourism said on April 26.

The Yellow Crane Tower is a traditional Chinese tower located in Wuhan. The current structure was built in 1981, but the tower has existed in various forms from as early as AD 223. The current Yellow Crane Tower is 51.4 meters high and covers an area of 3,219 square meters.
