Boris Johnson is back to his old self booming out assurances from outside number 10. The Prime Minister insists the tide of Covid-19 is turning and despite lockdown fatigue, Britons will just have to be patient a little while longer.
The British people have been waiting for the Prime Minister’s return. They want answers. The country is battling a lack of PPE, record-low testing rates and record high deaths maybe the highest in Europe.
The death toll has reached its peak here in the UK but the government is warning that the social distancing measures and the lockdown, cannot be fully lifted any time soon.
The government says the lockdown measures won’t be reviewed for another couple of weeks and even then, it will be a gradual process. On Saturday UK foreign Secretary Dominic Raab defended the efficiency and speed with which the government responded to the pandemic. He insisted time would tell which country handled the crisis better.
But the opposition Labor party and some senior conservative members insist people deserve some clarity when it comes to an exit strategy. Boris Johnson’s government is being accused of insulting the intelligence of the British people by not giving them any indication of when and how their lives will be put back on track.
