Iran marks Army Day with disinfection operations

It’s the Army Day in Iran. Unlike previous years, and instead of giving the marching orders, commanders have given the go-ahead to army specialists and soldiers in protective suits and vehicles to spray disinfectant in public places in an effort to stop the coronavirus outbreak.
Most public places from city streets to markets and neighborhoods are still deserted. Despite a drop in the number of new cases, healthcare authorities continue to distribute epidemic prevention materials such as masks, protective suits, disinfectants and hand wash to the frontline workers.
Starting from Saturday, Tehran will witness a partial lifting of the lockdown, with limited low-risk businesses being allowed to open. The objective is to consolidate the gains achieved during the first phase of the lockdown and further slow the spread of the virus while providing relief to businesses and wage earners.
The revised guidelines issued by the government have made it clear that some international air travel, along with educational institutions, shopping malls, cinema halls and religious places, remain suspended until further notice.
