Work resumption rate has reached 84 percent among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in China, said an official on Thursday.
Qin Zhihui, deputy director of the Bureau of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises under the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, briefed the media on the latest developments on the work resumption of China's SMEs.
"As of yesterday, April 15, the work resumption rate for China's small and medium-sized enterprises had reached 84 percent," said Qin.
According to Qin, work resumption shows different characters in different industries, regions and types of enterprises.
"First, in terms of industries, the work resumption rate for the second industry is higher than that of production-oriented service industry, and the work resumption rate for the production-oriented service industry is higher than that of consumer-oriented service industry," said Qin.
"Second, in terms of regions, the work resumption rates in different regions rise side by side. Work resumption rate exceeded 80 percent in 25 provinces, and Hubei Province shows a rapidly upward momentum of work resumption.
Third, in terms of types of enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises in specialized, fine, peculiar and new areas see a higher work resumption rate than the overall level of small and medium-sized enterprises. The bigger the scale of the enterprise, the higher the work resumption rate."
Shrinking orders due to the rapidly spreading pandemic across the world has become the prominent problem for these enterprises.
Qin said that the ministry will work out more policies to help these enterprises, including promoting implementation of related policies, encouraging leading enterprises to play their leading roles better, enhancing digital empowerment to these enterprises and pushing the public service system to provide them with strong support.
