Formula 1 legend Stirling Moss has died at the age of 90, after a long illness.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest F1 drivers never to win the world title, Moss was a four-time championship runner-up and also third overall on three occasions.

The Brit raced for Mercedes-Benz and Maserati and survived one of the deadliest eras of Motorsport in the 1950s and early 60s with 16 Grand Prix Wins.

Moss ended his career after a crash in 1962 which left him in a coma for a month and partially paralyzed for six months.

However his engagement in the sport continued until the age of 81 when he finally retired from All forms of motor racing in 2011.

He fell ill in 2016 with a chest infection and retired from public life in 2018 because of his ongoing health problems.
