Yemenis have marked the ninth anniversary of the February 2011 revolution that led to the overthrew of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh who ruled the Arabian Peninsula country for more than three decades.
People who participated in rallies to commemorate the occasion, said they will stand against US and Saudi plots against Yemen. The protesters said the 2011 Yemeni revolution was later hijacked by traditional political powers.
But, another revolution on September 21, 2014, in which Ansarullah fighters took state matters in their hands in Sana’a amid the absence of an efficient government, was an uprising to meet the demands of those who opposed the Saudi-backed regime of Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.
Since the beginning of the Saudi war on Yemen in March 2015, tens of thousands of Yemenis, many of them women and children have been killed. The current crippling air, sea and ground blockade imposed by Saudi Arabia on Yemen, has also worsened the humanitarian situation in the county.
Saudi Arabia began its war on Yemen to reinstate the regime of former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and crush the Ansarullah movement. But the Kingdom has failed to achieve its objectives since its military attacks have strengthened unity among Yemenis who call for stronger resistance against aggressors Yemen .
