Hyundai's Thierry Neuville has grabbed the lead on the first day of the season-opening Monte Carlo Rally after eclipsing six-time world champion Sebastien Ogier and 2019 series winner Ott Tanak.
Neuville carved out a lead of 19.1 seconds over Ogier following the first two stages stretching 42.96 km.
Tanak, meanwhile, is third overnight, 25.1 seconds off the lead. He sits just 0.3 seconds ahead of Elfyn Evans of Wales while nine-time world champion Sebastien Loeb completes the top five overall.
This year, Ogier is racing for Toyota after Citroen withdrew from the championship while Tanak has switched from Toyota to join Hyundai. Day two of Rallye Monte Carlo features six more stages totaling 122.58 km.
