After the illegal assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani one week ago, the news of the strike ordered by Donald Trump hit international headlines, providing the Western public a portrayal of General Soliemani which has been overwhelming negative.
Political analysts have speculated that the Western media has sufficiently demonized Iran’s most respected general in order to justify his murder, possibly also giving a justification for further US military aggression against Iran and even Iraq.
After the illegal targeted assassination of General Qassem Soleimani, the UK media and the Western media in general went into overdrive, pushing a certain narrative to the public.
Just as in the lead-up to the US led war on Iraq, the character assassination of Iranian public figures, politicians and generals seems to provide a justification, at least in the Western court of public opinion, for killing them and committing violations of international law.
Left out of the Western media’s narrative is of course the fact that Qassem Soleimani was one of the leading figures to lead the fight against Daesh and al-Qaeda in Iraq and Syria, which led to its defeat.
He also was beloved in Iran and by many all over the world due to his fight against terrorism and devotion to many causes including the liberation of Palestine.
