The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has finally decided to end his silence over the growing tensions between the US and Iran, by throwing his full weight behind his US ally Donald Trump.
In a statement, Johnson said that the British government does “not lament” the terrorist-style assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani at the hand of US forces and described Soleimani as a “threat to all our interests”.
Johnson’s statement on Iran follows UK opposition leader, Jeremy Corbyn’s, condemnation of the foreign secretary comments. Dominic Raab admitted he had “sympathy” for Trump’s “reckless and lawless” killings.
In a tweet, Corbyn described Raab’s position as “craven” and “dangerous”. Many now fear the UK is joining in with US anti-Iran activities, but Labor's Shadow Chancellor has vowed to lead a fight back.
Reports have surfaced suggesting the UK is adopting a military posture near Iranian territorial waters following three Government's crisis Cobra meetings held throughout the weekend.
The regions natives are now demanding all western troops leave the region for good. The possibility for a region wide war still seems very real possibility.
