US Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham vows to make impeachment of President Donald Trump “die quickly” in the upper chamber of Congress.

"This thing will come to the Senate, and it will die quickly, and I will do everything I can to make it die quickly," The Trump ally told CNN at the Doha Forum in Qatar Saturday. "I am trying to give a pretty clear signal I have made up my mind. I'm not trying to pretend to be a fair juror here… What I see coming, happening today is just a partisan nonsense."

The US president is facing an impeachment inquiry in the US House over pressuring Ukraine to find dirt on his political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden, who is running to beat him in the 2020 election.

"Now, Joe Biden is a dear friend. I've traveled all over the world with Joe Biden. He's running for president on the Democratic side. I think he'll do very well," said Graham, a Republican from South Carolina. "The bottom line is his son was receiving $50,000 a month from a gas company run by the most corrupt guy in the Ukraine and about two months after they raided the gas company's president's home, they fired the prosecutor. Yeah, I think it's OK to talk about this kind of stuff."

Trump’s removal from office would ultimately depend on a trial and a subsequent vote in the Republican-held Senate.

It takes some 20 Republican senators to reverse the results of the 2016 election and remove Trump.

Trump, who has denied wrongdoing in regard to the Ukraine scandal, is still insisting that Biden should be investigated for his dealings with the country. Biden also denies any wrongdoings.
