Fire destroys World Heritage Shuri Castle in Okinawa

Shuri Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Okinawa's Naha was almost completely destroyed by a fire that started early Thursday morning with firefighters spending hours to extinguish flames.

Footage shows burnt parts of the over 500-year-old wooden complex with the cause of the fire yet being unknown. According to reports, the main temple was the first to catch fire that later spread to other parts of the complex. No injuries have been reported.
