Democratic candidate for 2020 presidential election, Andrew Yang warns his party members that impeachment of President Donald Trump might fail.
The businessman told NPR on Saturday that while he endorses the impeachment inquiry underway in the US House, Democrats are required not to have "any illusions."
"I think impeachment is the right way to go, but I do not think that we should have any illusions that it's necessarily going to be successful," he said.
Yang further asserted that Trump, also a businessman, could take advantage of the efforts.
"When we're talking about Donald Trump, we are losing to Donald Trump, even if it's in the context of talking about impeaching him," Yang said.
Impeachment efforts by the Democratic-held House started after whistleblowers revealed that he was allegedly abusing his power elsewhere in the world to dig up dirt on his potential 2020 rival, former Vice President Joe Biden.

“Given the President’s latest actions I think impeachment is the right path forward. Asking foreign leaders for political help in return for aid and then suppressing your own agency’s inquiry is egregious,” Yang tweeted late last month. “There have to be limits and Congress is right to act.”
Earlier in September, the Democrat also said that, “Given the current composition of Congress, impeachment would almost certainly not succeed. And then you would wind up inflaming a certain proportion of the president's base with this persecution complex no matter what he does after a failed impeachment process.”
The impeachment inquiry has kicked off despite the majority Trump’s allies hold in the upper chamber of US Congress.
“It's impractical to champion impeachment just based upon the fact that Republicans still hold so many seats in Congress,” Yang said then.
Democrats are particularly zeroing in on Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani.
“Rudy Giuliani is Donald Trump, and Donald Trump is Rudy Giuliani,” said Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee.
Rep. Harley Rouda (D-Calif.) also argued Trump is aware of what his personal attorney has been up to in Ukraine.
“I’m pretty sure they’re not just talking about the weather and their golf games,” Rouda said, referencing their frequent meetings and phone calls. “Especially when it’s also very clear from the evidence that President Trump directed members of the State Department to work directly with Giuliani in their efforts in Ukraine. So the nexus is there. There is no debating the facts.”
