A group of former government officials in the United States has sounded the alarm over the interference of President Donald Trumps administration in government research.
The Brennan Center for Justice led by former attorney Preet Bharara and Christine Todd Whitman head of the Environmental Protection Agency under George W. Bush have issued a report saying the war on science by the Trump administration has hit 'crisis point'.
The report says the norms and expectations that once ensured that the government was guided primarily by the public interest rather than by individual or partisan interest have significantly weakened. It adds that there are now far fewer constraints to deter abuse by executive branch actors.
