North Korea says it has successfully test-fired a new type of submarine-launched ballistic missile towards the east sea.

The launch has been conducted a day after Pyongyang announced the resumption of fresh nuclear talks with the United States.

North Korean media says the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, has congratulated the defense scientists who contributed to the launch.
