Champions League: Tottenham 2-7 Bayern Munich

Over football news, Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich have thrashed English club Tottenham Hotspur 7-2 in London in the second round of the 2019 UEFA Champions League group stage.

The Londoners got on the scoresheet after 12 minutes into the match when Korean midfielder Son Heung-min scored with a clinical finish. Just 3 minutes later, the Bavarians leveled the match as Joshua Kimmich equalized with a superb 20-yard finish.

The visitors dominated when Polish international Robert Lewandowski made it 2-1 with a powerful shot from outside the box before the break. The Germans gathered the momentum in the 2nd half when Serge Gnabry doubled the lead with his individual effort in the 53rd minute.

Bayern showed no mercy and only 2 minutes later, Gnabry scored his brace from inside the box to make it 4-1. England’s captain Harry Kane gave spurs brief hope, scoring form the spot in the 61st minute.

Gnabry scored two more goals before Lewandowski scored his second to register an emphatic victory in London. After 2 matches, Bayern Munich sealed their place at the top of group B with 6 points.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid came from 2 goals down to salvage a draw with Club Bruges of Belgium at the Santiago Bernardeau stadium. The visitors took a surprising 2-nil lead in the 1st half. But, Los Blancos regrouped after the break as captain Sergio Ramos and then Casemiro gave them their 1st point. Zinedine Ziadne’s men who were beaten 3-nil by PSG in their opening match remain at the bottom of Group A.

Finally, Serie A Champions Juventus have continued their perfect start to the UCL after beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-nil at home. Gonzalo Higuain opened the scoring with a powerful shot from the edge of the box in the 1st half. The Bianconeri secured its victory after the break when Federico Bernardeschi and Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo bagged two more goals. With the victory, Juventus stay at the top of Group D with 4 points, above Atletico Madrid on goal difference.
