Yemen’s southern port city of Aden has become the scene of chaos. The city was once considered to be a stronghold for former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi and the Saudi-led coalition battling Ansarullah fighters. Aden is today a far cry from that.

The city has seen fierce infighting between forces that were once united in the battle against Ansarullah fighters based in the capital Sana’a.

Emirati-backed southern separatists and Saudi-backed militants who still support former president Hadi have turned on each other. Aden is witnessing a bloody tug of war with both sides determined to wrest control and keep the port city.

This infighting has added a new front to the already complex war.
