According to Sudanese authorities, at least 62 people have been killed and 100 injured after two months of heavy rain caused severe flooding across Sudan.

According to state news agency SUNA, all but one of Sudan's provinces were affected by the heavy flooding and reportedly 35,750 homes were destroyed. The Sudanese military was deployed to offer assistance and erect temporary tent accommodation to those left homeless after the floods.

The village of Wad Ramli, north of the capital, Khartoum, was partially submerged in floodwater on Tuesday. The worst affected areas include those bordering the river Nile and areas north of the capital, Khartoum.
