Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia has successfully defended his Hamburg European Open title after defeating Russian Andrey Rublev two sets to one in the final of the tournament.
16th ranked Basilashvili took the opener 7-5 but his Russian rival hit back 6-4 in the next set to force a decider.
The 27-year-old Georgian, however, quickly reclaimed the upper hand, serving out the final game of the last set to love, to win it 6-3 and wrap up the championship crown in just over 2 hours.
Basilashvili now has three ATP crowns to his name, including the Tour titles in Hamburg and China in 2018.
He is the first player to retain his title in the Hamburg Open since Roger Federer in 2005.
