Dramatic aerial video reveals the scale of destruction from Alaska's wildfires so far this year.
A forest ranger from the Police Benevolent Association of New York States took these videos last week (July 19 & 25) while fighting Alaska wildfires near Fairbanks. In recent days, pollution levels in the area are among the world's worst because of the fires.
The National Interagency Fire Center reports about 40 large wildfires have burned through more than 810,000 acres (32,780 hectares) across the state of Alaska. The state has seen more than 400 wildfires so far, this year, with new ones igniting every day.
