Thousands of activists blocked roads and lit up fires in Quito on Tuesday, July 17, on the second day of a national strike against President Lenin Moreno in Quito.
Similar protests were taking place in major cities across the country. Protesters are angry at the government's policies that were approved in order to reach a 4.2-billion-dollar deal with the International Monetary Fund in February.
On Wednesday, taxi drivers are expected to join the nation-wide protest, which is set to last until the weekend.
