Researchers find new dinosaur species in northwestern Brazil

A new dinosaur species that inhabited Brazil some 90 million years ago has been discovered in the northwestern state of Parana.

Fossils for the Vespersaurus Paranaensis was found at the Cruzeiro do Oeste paleontological site. The newly discovered dinosaur reaches about a 1.5 metres (approximately five feet) in length and is a carnivorous biped, according to officials.

The characteristics of the fossil's feet and its unique claw helped researchers identify this find as a new dinosaur.

Investigators believe that its breeding ground was in northwestern Brazil, which at the time was a desert.
