Iran, the United States, the UK, France, Germany, the EU, Russia and China held talks on what would eventually lead to the Iran nuclear deal for years.
The negotiations actually date back to 2006. It took President Donald Trump some nine months to unilaterally withdraw the US from the deal. But Tehran's patience has now reached the end of the road. Iran is set to scale back its nuclear commitments. This does not mean that it will leave the accord like Trump did. But Iran is set to make minor and general reductions to some of its commitments. After all, Iran could not idly sit by while the US re-imposed sanctions after sanctions.
