US, Israel angry with IRGC victories in Mideast: Pundit

The American and Israeli officials are irritated by victories that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have gained in fighting terrorism throughout the Middle East, says a commentator.

Iran's foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on his official Twitter page on Thursday that “targeting #IRGC won't revive ISIS and Nusra,” which are “clients and very creations” of the United States and its allies in the region.

In an interview with Press TV on Friday, Alexander Azadgan, a political analyst, said that “what the US and Israel are trying to do is goad Iran into war.”

“Washington and Tel Aviv are irked by IRGC because of IRGC’s victories and capabilities in the Middle East,” Azadgan argued. “The IRGC has had tremendous victories in Iraq and Syria very close to the Israeli border and they feel very threatened.”

The expert also said, “The IRGC plays a role in the Iranian economy, by designating them as a FTO (Foreign Terrorist Organization), I think, the West especially NATO and of course the US at the helm are trying to chokehold the Iranian economy.”
