'Yellow Vest' protesters clashed with police on the Champs Elysees in Paris on Saturday, as the demonstrations entered their 17th week.
Footage shows police using batons and pepper spray on protesters before backing away, with several demonstrators being knocked to the ground in the brawl.
The authorities also deployed water cannons that were repeatedly turned against the protesters.
The 'Yellow Vest' movement, one of the largest French demonstrations in recent history, has marched every Saturday since November 2018.
It started as a protest against a proposed fuel tax, but has since become a wider anti-government movement.
