Hundreds of students took to the streets of Algiers on Tuesday to protest against President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's bid for a fifth term in office.
They reportedly chanted slogans such as "Good bye Bouteflika, Good bye Bouteflika" and "Algeria wants change."
According to reports, similar protests were staged at several other university cities across the country.
They were triggered by the announcement made by the 81-year-old Bouteflika this month that he would seek re-election in the April 18 presidential vote.
