In five days, at least five mass shootings were reported across the US. Media coverage was almost blank and people are not as shocked as they used to be.
In fact, mass killings have become so common that Americans now just shrug it off; unless the number of casualties is extremely high, like the mass shooting in Las Vegas or the place the shooting happened is of significance, for instance a school or place of worship.
From 2009 to 2017, mass shootings resulted in at least 1800 people shot. More than a thousand of those who were shot were killed. The rest suffered injuries. One in five victims were children under the age of 18.
