Australia ended the drought after 41 minutes of play, thanks to Awer Mabil’s left-footed shot from the edge of the box.

But parity was restored within just 2 minutes when Omar Khribin found the net on a rebound. Australia stepped up the pressure after the break and made it 2-1 through Chris Ikonomidis.

The Syrians rallied once again in the 80th minute, when Omar Al Somah sent the Australian keeper the wrong way to convert from the spot. And finally, Tom Rogich bagged the 3rd, deep in injury time to seal the win for Australia.

With the draw, the Jordanians finished as group winners on 7 points, while Palestine finished 3rd on 2 points.
