Taiwan's 'yellow vests' protest against unfair taxation

Thousands of protesters wearing yellow vests demonstrate in front of the Taiwan Presidential Palace, calling for tax and judicial reform.

Taiwan's "yellow vest" movement started in 2016, and like the French version of the movement it has been against unfair taxation.

Taiwanese supporters of the movement demand that the government stop using fines and taxation as a means of political persecution against anti-government organisations.

They say even though Taiwan has improved tremendously in the political arena, the government has been using taxes as a form of intimidation against rivals.
