A political commentator says the United States’ talks with the Afghan Taliban militant group excluding the government in Kabul is an act of obstructing the exercise of Afghan autonomy.

Jason Unruhe, a political commentator and analyst, told Press TV on Sunday that by talking directly to the Taliban, the US practically “did not allow the [Afghan] government to talk about or discuss its own peace negotiations” and “exercise their own autonomy [... and] act outside the realm of US imperialist control.”

Taliban claimed on Sunday that the group and the US had agreed in Doha to continue their secretive negotiations.
