Russian defense superiority at heart of US-China tensions Tensions between the United States and China appear to be spiraling out of control.

Tensions that started with a war of words over trade tariffs and has now spread to a series of sanctions by Washington against Beijing.

The US says the sanctions, that followed Beijings purchases of weapons from Russia, are meant to punish Moscow for its malign activities, including attacks on American elections.

But there are already signs that the US is more worried that Moscow is ahead in the development and sales of an advanced weapons system which experts believe can effectively challenge Americas air defense might.
